Memory Lane Page

Here's another page that will hopefully spark some memories. Anyone that wants to send us items to put on the page please do. If you can scan them that would be even better. Once the page grows we will change it around some but until then, enjoy it as is.

The CT's Song
THE SILENT ONES

WHERE THERE'S A BASE ON FOREIGN GROUND
A NAVY CT STANDS
LOVED ONLY BY HIS FAMILY
AND GIRLS IN OTHER LANDS

HIS DUTY LIES UPON THE SHORE
NO FOREDECK FEELS HIS TREAD
NO FIVE INCE TURRET TRAINS AROUND
TO MAKE HIM DUCK HIS HEAD

HE DOES HIS WORK ON SPANISH SHORES
PERHAPS ON ASIAN LAND
AND IF BUPERS SHOULD PASS THE WORD
HE'S OFF TO TURISH SAND

SOME RIDICULE THIS LANDLOCKED SWAB
AND HEAP HIM WITH ABUSE
THEY SAY BECAUSE HE'S NOT AT SEA
HE COULDN'T BE MUCH USE

THESE SAME FEW FIGURE THAT A GOB
SHOULD BRAVE THE SALTY SPRAY
UPON THE BOW OF A FOUR-PIPE CAN
FIGHTING A STORMY DAY

THE CT HEARS THESE RUSTY YARNS
TALES OLD AS DAVY JONES
HE SITS AND LISTENS QUIETLY
AND INWARDLY CONDONES

FOR HE KNOWS THE WAYS OF SEAMEN
THEIR PRIDE AS MEN OF WAR
THEIR WAY OF TYING KNOTS AND SUCH
THEIR THOUGHT OF SHIPS AND SHORE

HE GIBES HIS RAPT ATTENTION
TO MEN WHO'VE BEEN AROUND
BUT FROM HIS LIPS YOU'LL NEVER HEAR
A HINT OF BOASTFUL SOUND

BECAUSE HIS PRIDE IS THE BIGGEST KIND
THE KIND THAT'S NEVER HEARD
THE PRIDE IN DOING A THANKLESS JOB
WITHOUT A SINGLE WORD

An old map of the base dated Aug 11, 1973
For some, you might not know that the entrance did move.

A memory for some in this organization.

Did you like those photo's from Judy?
well she was nice enough to supply us with some more.
Take a look at some of these...
  1. An Aerial Shot of the RAF Edzell.
  2. Photo of Brechin on High Street.
  3. One of those unique Mini's.
  4. An elevated shot of the United Kingdom.
  5. Her little "Welcome sign".

Wow, she has plenty more photo's I just looked at and her webpage looks great. Go check it out. Here is the address; http://net2.netacc.net/~jscott/Edzell.html.

For some June 27, 1997 was a great day and probably June 28, 1997 was a not so great day, but for those lucky people who got to get this certificate at RAF Edzell, it was definitely a good memory. Check out the good looking award that people got closing out the two base clubs.

Roger Shambaugh and Dale Trzebiatowski for the hope to hold on to the good times we had at RAF Edzell and get others back in touch with their lost friends.
