(Travelled with base softball team to Sigonella in '77) Met my share of interesting folk there but mainly remember meeting and making friends of many who were stationed there. We have never forgotton the time we spent there. What a beautiful place. It was a small base, but loaded with some of the best I've had the pleasure to be around. We left Edzell in Oct 74 to go to Monterey, Ca. Greg is now living in California and the boys and I are living back home in Pensacola. Our daughter Jessica, born at Ninewells in 1981, has given us a gorgeous Grandson, Ethan Caleb Vaughan, born August 7, 2000. Jessica is married to an Air Farce zoomie boy, stationed in lovely Altus AFB, Oklahoma. Dustin, our son born in 1983 in Waihiawa, Hawaii is now 17, junior, 6'4", 290 lbs, and a stud (just ask him) offensive lineman for the Summerville Green Wave. He's a good kid and great football player....keep your eyes out in the next few years for him......Tennessee, Clemson or the U. of South Carolina. He's also picked up the guitar and would make old Dad's drunkin days in Edzell look pretty bad. I miss all the gang from the late 70's/early 80's at Edzell. Still see Dan Devlin now and then, and comm with Larry Neth, Kevin Young, CJ, and a few others. Looking forward to the reunion.....we'll have to wear nametags..ha ha! We are gonna be here in in Virginia for a wee while longer Tim hes gonna be going to Mississippi here shortly but the new ship is gonna be home ported here. So this is gonna be our first tour away from each other not looking forward to it well i just called home a little while ago.Things are quiet i get the Brechiner sent from my family so i keep up with everything that way but i miss home a lot well take care everyone and happy thanksgiven when it comes around will keep looking in to see what going on and so forth well gotta sign off now bye for now. | |

Got out of the Marine Corps as soon as they would let me and later went into the Navy's JAG program, stationed at Subic Bay and now retired as a Commander from the reserves. Have kept in touch with several edzellites and this site has led to contact with several more. Good memories all around and hope to attend the 2002 reunion back at Edzell. | |

| Comments: Sorry we lost server. I was CTR at Edzell from 78-81. My wife Nell worked in post office. We lived on Kintrocket Farm outside of Brechin and then in Brechin Housing. Made many friends there. Still in touch with Earl & Isabel Smith, Danny Devlin, Jim Zmyslo and many others. Hope we can keep this going this time. Would like to hear from anyone with knowledge of Mark Franklin, Angie Roberts (last time I heard from she was in Texas) and Joe Palmerie (co. b marines) As my buddy Steve Frye said "Edzell is the best duty station none of us remember." I have been back twice since 81'. Most recently last summer. It was quite a sad sight to see the base sitting with no activity. Hope this new development breaths some life back into the place. | |
