Edzell Reunion 1997

(Next one planned for 2002)

A grand time was had by all!!! We had about 265 people attend the reunion. We had to turn people away because of space and the deadline had passed to give a number for food. We are truly sorry and wish we could have included everyone. We had people calling the morning of the reunion!

As expected, we had 8 former COs there and I don't know how many former XOs. The food was great and the noise level was tremendous. There was another party going on nearby and some of those people said our party sounded like more fun. We had a short ceremony when Mrs. Betty Morton (former CRA) presented the last stars and stripes to fly over the base to RADM Iasiah Cole to give to the Cryptologic Museum at Ft. Meade. We had a former service man who was stationed at Edzell volunteer to play his pipes. The reunion was to be from 7 to 10 but the bar was extended for an hour and people were still lingering at 11:30.

Many have asked that we put the names on the web of the people who attended because they did not get to see everyone. Also, I have been asked to send to some people the addresses of those attending. I would be happy to send a copy to anyone who wants it but I WILL NOT PUBLISH ADDRESSES ON THE WEB. They can contact me at jd98@umail.umd.edu or call my home (703-242-1303) and leave a message.

It was announced at the reunion that we will have another reunion in 5 years (2002) IN SCOTLAND!!!!!! So everyone start saving your money. Fred and I will be coordinating the reunion in Scotland with Gordon Robertson and Betty Morton as far as accommodations and such. Because people will be going so far and for more than one day, They will try to schedule various events. It was suggested that we have the reunion in August because of the weather and many games are going on then.
